First of all, installing GPS NTP time server allows you to receive and work with immediate timestamps aquired from satellites around the globe. These timestamps are parsed and UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is created.


Time synchronization is a very critical operation, when managing time-critical real-time operations, like turbine rotations or even exact time for your company clock. In such critical operations, time synchronization through internet is not as option, as many things can go wrong (DDOS attack on remote time server, internet connection failure or your administrators forgot about allowing communication with time server).
